As the voluptuous Tuna alluded to yesterday, we’re staying on a race track. We didn’t mean to, we thought we were booking a lovely mountain lake side hotel away from the city. Nup, the road is a race track, complete with massive concrete barriers with the occasional hole so you can access hotels, camp grounds town, etc.
View from the hotel restaurant, our room is to the right.
As the public holiday ended yesterday, the place was deserted, so we gave the Chev a run. Its mighty v16/4 with 270kw/4 of power made quick/16 time of the Lago Potrero de los Funes circuit.
Driving today was easy, a short trip around San Luis and a cruise up the freeway to Mendoza. We tried to drop the car off at 15:00, but being Argentina, and despite the fact they are allegedly open from 8:30 to 20:00, they didn’t show up till 17:00 after the bloke next door gave them a call for us (thanks for the call champ). Anyway, we were staying on Plaza Italia, and they were having a Piazza Fest, so we thought we’d find dinner there. A quick tour showed that it was pants, so we went to a fabulous place on the plaza and watched from a comfy restaurant with some simply sensational food (no cheese or ham).
