We decided to head to Barrio Brasil today to check out a few museum and galleries. Also we needed to buy our train ticket as we are heading to Talca on Tuesday.
I decided to google and research the places to make sure they were going to be open. Found that one of them was closed and guessed another maybe. But the others appeared to be open. Off we headed, we bought train tickets no problem.
Nothing was open. NOTHING!
Start of rant ...
Why does it appear that Santiago has closed all of their museums, art galleries and cultural exhibits for March when we are here? They were closed because they were changing exhibits or for renovations. Why does it take one month to change exhibits? Why can’t they coordinate to have at least half of the stuff open when the other half is closed? This is really, really pants.
So for having committed ourselves to five full days here in Santiago, we are struggling to find something to do tomorrow and spent today walking to closed buildings and getting really hot.
We went to one closed museum and started talking to a Czech tourist, he had the same complaints and same experiences. We were comparing which stuff was closed. It was good to know that we were not the only people getting annoyed with stuff being closed.

So for a city that we were really looking forward to and supposed to have excellent museum, art and cultural exhibits, we are very disappointed.
Not sure what we will do tomorrow. Might cut my toe nails.
End of rant ….
On a very bright and happy note, we caught up with good friends from Perth for dinner, Leigh (me gusto Chile) and Dave. A very lovely and enjoyable evening.
