Georgian architecture and an Abbey

Sunday 20 May 2012

We walked into Bath rather than drive and spend 20 minutes trying to find a car park. The place is full of tourists!

Also we had an ulterior motive to do some vague sense of exercise and to be able to wander through Bath and enjoy the architecture and parks. There were a few main things we wanted to see and walking was the best way.

We first went to The Circus which is classic Georgian architecture and dates from late 1700s. Stunning.

Around the corner was the Royal Crescent, again Georgian architecture dating from mid to late 1700s.

A stroll through the Royal Victoria Park with Master James getting his first experience of walking on grass. It went ok, but he kept stumbling on the uneven surface. :-)

After lunch the Young-Greene clan caught the train back to London, we went for a walk through the Bath Abbey. This is a stunning building.

Next a gentle walk back along the river, watching some cricket and canal boats moving up through a lock along the way.

A gentle sit and some chill time whilst we planned the rest of our week in the country side. Found a fantastic little restaurant out of town down on the Avon River for dinner and enjoyed the serenity.
